چکیده
Abstract Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, causal agent of Ash Dieback, has posed a threat to Fraxinus excelsior (common ash) in Europe since the 1990s. In south-western Europe, optimal climatic conditions for H. fraxineus become scattered and host density decreases, reducing disease spread rates . To date, Dieback not been reported from southern most central Italy, where native F. is present as small fragmented populations. This study examines expansion into it considers consequences further local with regards loss genetic resource. Symptomatic were sampled sixteen sites northern Italy during 2020. Specimens analyzed culturomics quantitative PCR approach. A bibliographic search floristic reports was conducted creation detailed range map. The combined use both techniques confirmed presence all plants symptomatic. These new records represent limit current known distribution this pathogen together Montenegro, Europe. characterization suggests that across realistic scenario. presents just European proveniences , but species whole, should lead warm climate adapted material, which may increasingly valuable under change.

Molecular markers for tolerance of European ash (Fraxinus excelsior) to dieback disease identified using Associative Transcriptomics
Tree disease epidemics are a global problem, impacting food security, biodiversity and national economies. The potential for conservation and breeding in trees is hampered by complex genomes and long lifecycles, with most species lacking genomic resources. The European Ash tree Fraxinus excelsior is being devastated by the fungal pathogen Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, which causes ash dieback diseas...
متن کاملA role for the asexual spores in infection of Fraxinus excelsior by the ash-dieback fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus
The invasive pathogen, ash dieback fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, is spreading rapidly across Europe. It shows high levels of outcrossing and limited population structure, even at the epidemic front. The anamorphic (asexual) form produces prolific conidia, thought to function solely as spermatia (male gametes), facilitating gene flow between sympatric strains. Here, we show that conidia are ca...
متن کاملGenetic Structure in the Northern Range Margins of Common Ash, Fraxinus excelsior L.
During post glacial colonization, loss of genetic diversity due to leading edge effects may be attenuated in forest trees because of their prolonged juvenile phase, allowing many migrants to reach the colonizing front before populations become reproductive. The northern range margins of temperate tree taxa in Europe are particularly suitable to study the genetic processes that follow colonizati...

We investigated the sensitivity of dormant Polish-provenance Fraxinus excelsior L. seeds to extreme desiccation and liquid nitrogen (LN, -196 degrees C). Germination and seedling emergence tests revealed that the critical water content (WC) of the desiccated seeds was 0.04-0.06 g H(2)O g(-1) dry mass, g g(-1) (0.04 g g(-1) in the germination test and 0.06 g g(-1) in the seedling emergence test)...
متن کاملAdaptive potential of ash (Fraxinus excelsior) populations against the novel emerging pathogen Hymenoscyphus pseudoalbidus
An emerging infectious pathogen Hymenoscyphus pseudoalbidus has spread across much of Europe within recent years causing devastating damage on European common ash trees (Fraxinus excelsior) and associated plant communities. The present study demonstrates the presence of additive genetic variation in susceptibility of natural F. excelsior populations to the new invasive disease. We observe high ...
